Iran warns of severe retaliation against any aggression

Iran’s 2015 nuclear deal faced disruption after the US withdrew in 2018, prompting Tehran to escalate its enrichment activities. The two nations have engaged in five rounds of indirect talks, though disagreements remain over uranium enrichment.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, deputy chief of the Iranian Army for Coordination, has warned that Iran will inflict “beyond imagination” damage on its enemies if they attempt any form of aggression against the country.

Sayyari emphasized the military’s full preparedness against any threats, stating that Iran's armed forces are completely ready to defend the nation. He warned that any attempt to violate Iran’s territorial integrity or national interests would be met with an overwhelming response.

Last month, a US report cited multiple officials revealing that Washington had obtained new intelligence indicating that Israel had been moving air munitions and conducting air drills. This was viewed as an indicator of Israel’s heightened state of military readiness.

In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi urged the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to condemn Israel’s alleged plan to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling it a reckless act.

These developments unfolded while Iran and the United States were engaged in indirect negotiations over Iran’s peaceful nuclear program. The two nations have so far conducted five rounds of discussions aimed at reviving a replacement for the 2015 nuclear agreement, which was disrupted after the US withdrew from it in 2018.

Despite negotiations, a significant hurdle remains: the US insists that Iran halt its uranium enrichment activities under any new deal, a condition Iran has firmly rejected. Tehran maintains that its right to enrich uranium is protected under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and will not be relinquished.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Sayyari highlighted Iran's progress in self-sufficiency regarding arms production. He stated that Iran has managed to domestically manufacture weapons and ammunition despite ongoing sanctions.

He emphasized that Iran now produces more than 90% of the military equipment required by its armed forces. Not only has Iran achieved independence in securing its defense needs, but it has also become a player in military exports.
